Orlando Pirates Confirm Thembinkosi Lorch's Move to Mamelodi Sundowns Ahead of Transfer Deadline

Thembinkosi Lorch Makes the Move to Mamelodi Sundowns on Transfer Deadline Day

Johannesburg, South Africa – Orlando Pirates have officially announced the departure of star player Thembinkosi Lorch to six-time DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The agreement came to fruition following discussions between the Orlando Pirates Chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza, and the leadership of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Thembinkosi “Nyoso” Lorch’s departure marks the end of an era at the Pirates where he made a significant impact and etched his name into the Club’s rich history.

Through an official statement, the Club expressed its gratitude for Lorch’s contributions: “Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club. We thank ‘Nyoso’ for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the Club. We wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit.”

The move sees Lorch join Mamelodi Sundowns, a team well-known for its competitive edge and championship-winning habits. His skill and prowess on the pitch are expected to bolster Sundowns’ already formidable lineup as they push for domestic and continental honors.

Mamelodi Sundowns also made headlines on the same day by signing two international talents. Argentine midfielder Matías Esquivel has joined the Pretoria-based team, bringing his dynamic playmaking ability to the squad.

Furthermore, South African and former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Tashreeq Matthews is making a highly anticipated return to home turf after six years in European football.
