The Free State Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana, has responded to recent allegations and reports suggesting that his government sold Macufe and chose to support the Lemo Festival instead. Speaking at the provincial launch of Transport Month, Dukwana addressed the issue and made his stance clear.

“Lere re rekisitse Macufe? Re fanne ka ona? Hara fana ka Macufe, re thibile tsela eo Macufe aneng a etswa ka teng,” Dukwana emphasized.

Dukwana’s administration has been criticized by the EFF Provincial Secretary, Bosanku Msimanga, for neglecting the revival of cultural and sporting events in the province. Msimanga highlighted the importance of bringing back Macufe, Bloemfontein Celtics, and Free State Stars football clubs in a letter to the Free State Executive Council.

The Premier, however, made it known that his government is committed to the development and promotion of cultural and sporting events in the Free State. He assured the public that Macufe remains a priority, and steps are being taken to address any concerns.
