Zanele Mulambo, the rising gospel star from Parys in the Free State, is making waves in the South African music scene and beyond with her latest single, “O Tshwanetswe.” The song has garnered significant attention, securing spots on prominent radio stations like Lesedi FM and opening doors for international invitations, including a notable one from Botswana.
A Journey Rooted in Faith
Zanele’s spiritual journey began in 2008 when she embraced Christianity. In 2009, she relocated to Sasolburg, where she became an active member of a local church. Balancing her roles as a devoted mother of two daughters and a passionate worshipper, Zanele has always been driven by a calling to “download, encode, and decode the heartbeat of God.”
From Backing Vocalist to Center Stage
Zanele’s musical talents started gaining recognition in 2020 during her debut performance with All Sasolburg Gospel Artists. Her role as an alto backing vocalist saw her collaborating with esteemed artists such as Nzimeni Mazwazwa, Prophet Shano’h, Bheki M, Akhona Ndzima, and Morena Mphuthi. These collaborations laid the foundation for her burgeoning career in gospel music.
Breakthrough Singles and Accolades
In 2023, Zanele recorded her first song, “Izimo Ziyamlalela,” marking her official entry into the recording industry. The following year, she released “Ngubani,” a collaborative effort with Free State Praise and Worship Explosion, which further solidified her presence in the gospel music community. Her songwriting prowess was recognized when she was awarded Best Songwriter of the Year in 2024.
“O Tshwanetswe”: A Song Resonating Beyond Borders
“O Tshwanetswe,” Zanele’s latest single, has been met with widespread acclaim. The song’s inclusion in Lesedi FM’s playlist and its rotation on other radio stations have amplified her reach, leading to invitations to perform internationally, notably in Botswana. This track exemplifies her ability to connect with audiences through heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies.
Vision for the Future
Zanele is committed to furthering her education through part-time studies while continuing to nurture her musical gift. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining her ministry with effective and impactful marketing strategies. Looking ahead, she aspires to host a live recording and initiate a “girls drive” aimed at inspiring and motivating young girls and mothers in the music industry and business sectors.
