NSFAS
Over 87,000 students will not receive funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) this year, as the organization grapples with a shortfall of over 1.1 billion Rand. According to Karabo Khakhu, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, the financial issues stem from mismanagement of funds, maladministration, and corruption within NSFAS.
Khakhu recently appeared on episode 15 of Central News, where she discussed the scandal surrounding NSFAS and allegations made by the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA). OUTA claims that Minister Nzimande and NSFAS board chairperson, Ernest Khosa, received kickback payments from service providers.
