Dr Nandipha Magudumana
Dr Nandipha Magudumana, who was arrested in Arusha, Tanzania, alongside her fugitive boyfriend, Thabo Bester, known as the Facebook rapist and murderer, has launched an application for bail.
The application is scheduled to be heard at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has announced its intention to oppose the bail application.
The charges against Magudumana include fraud, corruption, violating a corpse, harbouring and concealing an escaped offender, as well as defeating the ends of justice.
She was initially arrested in April but did not apply for bail at that time. Instead, she launched an application with the Free State High Court to have her arrest declared unlawful. Unfortunately for her, she lost the case.
Currently, Magudumana is being held at the Bizzah Makhete Correctional Centre in Kroonstad.
