The 30th of March 2021 will go down in history as one of the biggest day in South Africa’s history, it was on this day when the legendary Xhosa news reader of the SABC was retiring.

Born in the rural areas of Eastern Cape in the late fifty’s the “Ngini’thanda’nonke E Makhaya” legend has covered historic events such as the death of Chris Hani and Nelson Mandela. It was for such reasons that even the state president Cyril Ramaphosa had to delay his address to allow the iconic news reader to rock South Africa one last time.

Noxolo Grootboom has served the broadcasting industry for 37 years and besides being loved for her beautiful Xhosa language, she was also loved for her sense of fashion which South Africans admired all the time.

She now has an opportunity to also sit back, relax and watch her favourite TV show “The Queen”

Any farewell messages from you? We would love to hear them.
