Nkgudi is facing a charge of murder for killing his wife.

The matter was postponed to 19 April 2023, for a transfer to the regional court.

“It is alleged that on 28 January 2023, the husband came home drunk in the middle of the night and started arguing with the wife, who was in their room with their 6-year-old grandson,” said NPA Gauteng spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana.

During the arguments, it is alleged that the accused went outside and came back with a stick, shovel, and an axe, and started assaulting the wife with them in the presence of the grandson.

During the assault, the deceased ran to the bathroom where she died.

Meanwhile, the grandson got assaulted while taking a footage of what was happening.

When the father realised that the grandson was taking a video of the incident, he took his phone, assaulted him with a shovel, locked him in the wardrobe, and fled.”

Nkgudi was arrested two days later, at a shack in Vukuzenzele.

After his arrest he took the police to a place where he hid his clothes with blood stains.
