Njabulo Blom
By Mpho Moloi
Kaizer Chiefs have officially welcomed back Njabulo Blom, the versatile South African midfielder, on a one-year loan deal from Major League Soccer (MLS) side St. Louis City FC. This reunion marks Blom’s return to his roots, having previously developed through the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy and made a significant impact in the senior team before his move to the United States in early 2023.
A Significant Move for Kaizer Chiefs
Blom’s return is being celebrated by the club and its supporters, with Kaizer Chiefs’ Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., expressing his enthusiasm about the re-signing. Motaung emphasized Blom’s value to the team, particularly his experience gained in the MLS, which will contribute to the club’s objectives under Coach Nasreddine Nabi. “We are excited to welcome Njabulo back to the team. His experience in the MLS and his familiarity with our Club ethos make him a valuable addition to our squad,” said Motaung.
Blom himself shared his excitement about rejoining the Amakhosi, a club that he describes as holding a special place in his heart. “I am delighted to be back at Kaizer Chiefs, a Club that holds a special place in my heart,” Blom said, highlighting his eagerness to work with the team and contribute to their success in the upcoming season.
The Journey Back Home
Blom’s stint with St. Louis City FC was marked by solid performances, where he made 26 appearances and started in 21 matches during his first season in the MLS. Despite his contributions, Blom faced challenges that led to his return to South Africa, including falling out of favor under the interim coach at St. Louis City. This move back to Kaizer Chiefs provides him with an opportunity to regain his form and continue his development in a familiar environment.
