Ngwathe Local Municipality
By Thabo Mosia
Ngwathe Local Municipality has announced urgent measures to address resident complaints about muddy water from taps in parts of Parys and surrounding areas. According to a statement from municipal manager Dr. Futhuli Mothamaha on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the municipality is launching an immediate “flushing out” of the water network in response to concerns, particularly in areas that recently faced water shortages, such as Schonkenville.
The technical team is prioritising these areas to ensure an improvement in both water quality and pressure. Mothamaha assured residents that this situation is unrelated to the ongoing refurbishment of the Parys Water Treatment Works. He urged patience as the team works to restore clean water flow, highlighting the municipality’s commitment to promptly resolving the matter.
Affected residents are encouraged to report muddy water issues to the water network team at 060 521 5310. For emergencies, they can also reach local councillors at 082 909 3464 or 067 424 2372.
