Ngwathe Local Municipality

The Ngwathe Local Municipality has come under scrutiny after returning 68 million rand to the national treasury due to its failure to properly spend the money to improve service delivery. According to EFF Free State MPL Bosanku Msimanga, the audit report for the municipality is not even showing signs of improvement.

Msimanga expressed his concerns, stating, “In Ngwathe we are moving from one disaster to another. There’s a crisis of water, the quality of water is poor, and the way finances are used is a concern.”

The issues at Ngwathe Local Municipality were further highlighted in a recent episode of The Current Review, where it was reported that senior manager Themba Mpindo was physically attacked and denied entry into municipal offices in Parys by an EPWP Temporary Worker.

Msimanga condemned the incident and called on the COGTA MEC Toto Makume to take action. He stated, “Chaos is happening at Ngwathe Local Municipality.”
