Over 400 houses and shacks were destroyed in a severe storm on Thursday in Matlwangtlwang Steynsrus in the Free State.

However, the Mayor of the ANC-led Moqhaka Municipality, Motlogeloa Mokatsane, and the Free State Provincial Government have not visited the area.

In response, opposition parties DA, EFF, FF Plus, and Give of the Givers are on the ground assisting affected families.

Temporary shelters have been set up at Matlwangtlwang Community Hall and Matlwangtlwang Secondary School Hall to provide refuge for those who have been displaced.#centralnewsza
