The South African Police Service (SAPS) management and Ministry of Police are gearing up to kick off their annual countrywide Festive Season Inspection Roadshow, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all residents and holidaymakers during the holiday period.

As part of the SAPS’ efforts to channel resources to areas where they are most needed, the roadshow will focus on combating crime through decisive police action and robust community involvement. This year’s theme highlights the importance of collective effort in keeping communities safe.

Starting in Gauteng on December 19th and ending in KwaZulu-Natal on January 2nd, the roadshow will include visits to entertainment and business centers, transport hubs, taxi ranks, multi-disciplinary roadblocks, and targeted operations in high crime areas.

According to a statement from the police, the roadshow will align with the high-density Operation Shanela to ensure a decisive response to crime and security threats during the festive season and beyond.

The SAPS management, led by National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, will assess the effectiveness of the SAPS’ safer festive season operational plans during the roadshow.
