Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie, in collaboration with the Western Cape Provincial Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport and the Sports Trust, will officially hand over two state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports facilities and sports attire to Mitchell Plain High School on Monday, 12 May 2025. This significant event, part of the Ministerial Outreach Programme, will take place at the school in the Western Cape, starting at 14:00. It highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing school and community sports development across South Africa.

The new facilities are modern, multi-purpose spaces designed to support a variety of sports, such as basketball, netball, tennis, soccer, and rugby. This handover is a game-changer for Mitchell Plain High School, which serves over 1,000 students in an area where sports resources have historically been limited.
