By Thys Khiba – The defence lawyer in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, advocate Teffo Malesela has blamed the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele for his dramatic arrest.
Teffo was arrested shortly after Thursday’s proceedings in the High Court in Pretoria for allegedly failing to appear in court on a separate matter.
He told the media during his arrest that he doesn’t know why he is being arrested.
“It is part of harassment, as I told the court earlier on and the so-called warrant of arrest is from January this year and why are they only arresting me now? They are arresting me because I am in this case, Police Minister Bheki Cele doesn’t want me on this case.”
He was taken to the Hillbrow police station.

The five male accused of Meyiwa’s 2014 murder have been back in court for trial proceedings. The accusations are in connection of storming into singer Kelly Khumalo’s home demanding money and cellphones and shooting the Bafana Bafana captain after a scuffle ensued.
It was presented in the court that former police bosses and political figures allegedly colluded with the family of singer Kelly Khumalo to stage the scene of Meyiwa’s murder.
The arrested defence lawyer informed sergeant Thabo Mosia of an apparent meeting held by officials and the people who were in the house right after Meyiwa was killed.
He believes Mosia was misled.
The crime scene was mismanaged by the senior officers of Gauteng with the owner of that house and when we arrive we were managed.”
STAGED
Mosia argued the crime scene was staged and prepared before he was called by former Provincial Head of Detectives Philani Ndlovu.
According to Mosia couldnt make any judgments on the tampering on the scene and did only secure the area and investigate.
Individuals who were in the house when Meyiwa was killed have been listed as potential witnesses.
The murder trial has been postponed to 30 May.
