Pretoria, South Africa – In a glittering ceremony at the SunBet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria, Mia Le Roux has been crowned Miss South Africa 2024. The 28-year-old marketing manager and part-time model from Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, emerged victorious from a pool of outstanding finalists, securing her place as South Africa’s ambassador of beauty and social responsibility.
Le Roux’s journey to the crown was nothing short of inspirational. Diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one, she overcame significant challenges to become an advocate for the deaf community. Throughout the competition, Le Roux showcased not only her beauty but also her resilience and commitment to making a positive impact. Her participation in the reality show “Crown Chasers,” where she won several episodes, further solidified her position as a favourite among viewers and judges alike.
The Road to Victory
Mia Le Roux stood out in a competitive field that included top finalists such as Nompumelelo Maduna from Soweto and Onalenna Constantin from Potchefstroom. These contestants, along with others like Layla Zoubair and Kirsten Khan, represented the best of South African beauty and talent, making the competition one of the most exciting in recent years.
The Miss South Africa pageant, however, has not been without its controversies. The 2024 edition faced significant public scrutiny following the withdrawal of contestant Chidimma Adetshina, which sparked discussions about inclusivity and fairness within the pageant. Despite these challenges, the Miss South Africa organization continued to push forward, delivering a spectacular event that culminated in Le Roux’s crowning.
