Executive Mayor of Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Thanduxolo Khalipha, has announced the appointment of Advocate Lonwabo Ronald Ngoqo as new Municipal Manager.

Ngoqo was appointed by Council on the 7th of December 2022 and expected to report for duty early in January 2023.

Khalipha says Ngoqo has more than 20 years’ experience in local government.

“He served previously as the Municipal Manager at Bitou Local Municipality and Sundays River Valley Municipality. He also served as the Director for Corporate Services (Eden District Municipality), Acting Director HR- Economic and Social Development and Human Resource, and Human Resource Manager for Kouga Municipality.” said Executive Mayor in a statement.

Ngoqo has academic background in Law and Governance, including Labour Law.

“The new Municipal Manager will add value to the Municipality by streamlining operations and improving service delivery to the best interest of our people. “

Khalipha said the appointment of Advocate Ngoqo reflects the Council’s deliberate intent to professionalize and depoliticize Matjhabeng Municipality.”

The Matjhabeng has wished Advocate Nqoco well with his new responsibility and anticipates positive outcomes in his leadership.
