By Thys Khiba – The DStv Premiership Marumo Gallants FC has officially announced the return and appointment of Dan Malesela as their Head Coach on Tuesday morning.
The club confirmed their former coach Malesela will officially take over as Head Coach from today, 20 September.
“It was fortunate that Dan Malesela was a free agent at the same time that we, as Gallants, were seeking a new Head Coach. After some discussions, the decision was made to welcome him back to the Marumo Gallants family,” said Club Chairman Abram Sello.
The chairman of the club, Sello told media they are looking forward to their next matches with much anticipation and a positive outlook.
The appointment of former Royal AM Head Coach Malesela comes after Gallants lost their French-Moroccan coach RomainFolz who resigned earlier this month.
“The role is a familiar one to Malesela – he led the Gallants as Head Coach prior to the expiration of his contract earlier this year,” said Club Spokesperson, Rufus Matsena.
Malesela will be expected to help the club climb up the log by starting to collect points in their next match against TS Galaxy in Mbombela on October 4.
Last season, he took the club to the finals of the Nedbank Cup where they narrowly lost 1-0 to star-studded MamelodiSundowns.
After the final, Malesela decided to leave and announced his resignation from the Limpopo-based club.
