Sundowns Edge Al Ahly in Dramatic Semi-Final
Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place in the final after a tense 1-1 draw against defending champions Al Ahly in Cairo. Following a goalless first leg in Pretoria, Al Ahly took the lead through Taher Mohamed’s powerful strike in the 24th minute. However, Sundowns’ persistence paid off in stoppage time when a low cross led to an own goal by Al Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim, sending the South African side through on the away goals rule.
This victory marks Sundowns’ third appearance in the CAF Champions League final, having previously reached the pinnacle in 2001 and clinched the title in 2016.

Despite trailing twice, goals from Mostafa Fathy, Ramadan Sobhi, and a decisive brace from Congolese striker Fiston Mayele secured their spot in the final.
