Pretoria – Mamelodi Sundowns Head Coach Manqoba Mgqithi has recommended to AmaZulu owner Sandile Zungu to give Benni McCarthy a contract as the head coach of AmaZulu.

“We have got a really good talking relationship, and we are close to each other. My wish is to see those who are showing signs of commitment and passion succeeding.”

Since the arrival of McCarthy at AmaZulu camp, the team has been doing well with a six-game winning streak in the DStv Premiership.

It has been confirmed that Mgqithi is one of the football coaches who have recommended that AmaZulu should give the former Bafana Bafana striker a chance to coach AmaZulu.

“Speak to the boss of AmaZulu and ask him who recommended Benni,” said Manqoba Mgqithi.

“South Africa needs coaches, Mandla has stamped his authority, and what Benni is doing with AmaZulu, I am more than impressed. Even Benni might not even know that I am the one who recommended him.”

AmaZulu is currently on the second position of the DStv Premiership table log with 40 points. Mamelodi Sundowns remains the current leaders of the table log with 45 points.

Recently, South African soccer fans have recommended that the Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki’ should be replaced by the AmaZulu temporary coach Benni McCarthy.

This is after the national team failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). The team suffered a 2-0 defeat by Sudan on Sunday.

Ntseki was fired on Wednesday morning.

AmaZulu will be facing Mamelodi Sundowns in their next fixture in Johnson Kings Park Stadium on the 21st April 2021 at 15h00.
