Bloemfontein – Norma Mngoma, estranged wife of the former minister Malusi Gigaba shocks South Africans as she was sharing the shocking revelations about Gigaba at the State capture inquiry on Monday evening, April 26 2021.
During her testimony at the Zondo commission of inquiry into state capture, Norma focused more on her family’s relationship with the Gupta family.
The Gupta family have been accused of having captured the state during the former president Jacob Zuma’s tenure.
According to Norma’s testimony about her wedding in 2014, the total cost of the event was between R4m and R5m, paid for in cash mainly by Gigaba.
“I didn’t find it strange (the amount) because Malusi Gigaba has been a minister for a very, very long time and also he told me that he had savings with the money market that he saves money from. And most of the expenses we don’t pay for them because it’s paid by the state…so to have a lot of cash is not something that was strange to me,” said Mngoma.
Norma has indicated, during her testimony, that it was not shocking that her wedding cost with Gigaba was around that amount, as it was two weddings, a white wedding and a traditional wedding.
Among other allegations that Norma accuses her estranged husband with, is to have been a gold necklace, bags of cash and a white BMW by the Guptas.
Norma shared with the commission on how Gigaba was allegedly given a white series BWM as a gift by Ajay Gupta. In addition to that, Norma continued to share how Gigaba allegedly was told by the Guptas how Brian Molefe become the next CEO of Eskom before the announcement was made publicly.
Furthermore, Norma told the Zondo commission that Gigaba allegedly was told by former SAA board chairperson Dudu Myeni and Ajay Gupta that he would be moved back to the department of home affairs for his lack of cooperation. And that move, when it eventually happened, Gigaba was not happy.
