By Thys Khiba – A 20-year-old woman outside of Mookgophong has been arrested by Naboomspruit police in Waterberg District in connection with the brutal murder of her alleged 25-year-old husband.
The incident took place on a farm outside Mookgophong on Monday, 10 April 2023 at about 05:00 in the morning.
The victim was certified dead on his arrival at the hospital.
The arrested suspect is expected to appear before Mookgophong Magistrates’ Court soon on a charge of murder.
“It is alleged that in the morning in question, the couple had a heated argument.
“According to the Information the suspect (wife) accused her husband (deceased) of having an affair,” said Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
It is alleged that she stabbed her husband with a sharp object on the upper body.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the incident and advised people experiencing relationship challenges to seek professional assistance.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man is expected to appear in court in connection with the murder of his brother whilst a 28-year-old man is appearing for attempted murder of his female partner.
Both are expected to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 11 April 2023.
“According to the report, on Saturday, 08 April 2023 information was shared with the authorities in Bushbuckridge indicating that there were two brothers who were engaged in a fight at Ga-Motibidi where one of them was stabbed,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.
Mohlala indicated that their members and paramedics went to the scene and upon arrival they found a lifeless body of a man with stab wounds on the chest and at the back.
“The victim was unfortunately certified dead by the medical personnel.”
According to the police preliminary investigation, the brothers had a fight where one of the brothers allegedly stabbed the other with a knife.
The victim then succumbed to his injuries and the suspect fled the scene.
A case of murder was opened and the suspect was arrested in Bushbuckridge on Sunday, 09 April.
In another separate incident, the police in Bushbuckridge were informed about a woman who had sustained gunshot wounds on the stomach and right hand and admitted to hospital.
“An attempted murder case was opened and during the investigation police discovered that the suspect was residing in Violetbank near Bushbuckridge,” said MoMohlala
Mohlala indicated that police followed details regarding the whereabouts of the suspect and cornered him at his residential place.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect (28) and the victim is a couple.
“On that fateful Sunday, it is alleged that the two had an argument and the suspect allegedly shot the victim.”
