By Thys Khiba – The Land Party leader Gcobani Ndzongana has rubbished claims made by the Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen suggesting the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema incited civil war.

Ndzongana accused Steenhuisen of attacking and silencing left progressive politics’ in the country.

“The Land Party is aware that the attack by the DA to the EFF is nothing but a strategy to concort efforts to silence the views of the EFF leader and to destroy all progressive political parties.

“The DA in its Federal Committee took a resolution to silence socialists and communists politics in South Africa by any means, that’s why the DA in the Western Cape was willing to collaborate with criminals to silence those with Socialists and Communists ideas by organising hitmen to kill the leader of the Land Party and drive him out of the Western Cape,” said Ndzongana.

This comes after Malema chanted “Kill the boer, kill the farmer” at the EFF’s 10th anniversary celebration at the FNB stadium this past weekend.

Speaking to Central News, Ndzongana alleged the DA is in the forefront to mobilise civil war in the country.

“It is the DA that mobilised the Western countries, particularly the United State of America to cut South Africa from AGOA trade agreement, sanction black leaders and parties that advocate socialism and communism in South Africa.”

The party claimed the song is directed to those who are using ‘power and state machinery’ to silence the poor in South Africa. They said the word boer in the song means capitalist.

The DA is expected to file charges against Malema and the ANC with the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The other opposition party, Freedom Front Plus has opened a case of intimidation.

Steenhuisen indicated he is also going to approach Parliament’s ethics committee.

Meanwhile, Malema indicated that he would not be deterred by the views of Steenhuisen. He disagreed with claims suggestingthe controversial song promotes genocide and racism.

“We have always stated that the boers and the farmers do not refer to individuals but refer to a system of oppression. I said in court that we used to refer to the police as boers.

When do we respect the judgement of the court and when do we disrespect the judgement of the court? When they favour Zille we must respect them, when they don’t favour Hellen Zille We must not respect them,” said Malema.

The Equality Court’s findings declared that the EFF’s singing of ‘Kill the Boer’ was not hate speech.
