Ladysmith Floods
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube has officially announced that the death toll from the Ladysmith floods has tragically risen to 22, following the discovery of a toddler’s body.
This confirmation comes after the South African Police Service (SAPS) reported a death toll of 21 earlier today. Premier Nomusa made her way to Ladysmith to offer support and condolences to the families affected by the devastating floods. The search and rescue efforts are still ongoing as they continue to search for the ten individuals who are still missing.
Premier Nomusa, along with MEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi and uThukela District Mayor, also took the time to visit the Msimang Family, who suffered the tragic loss of seven family members during the flash floods on December 24, 2023.
The officials also took the opportunity to assess the extent of the damage caused by the floods in Ladysmith. The community is rallying together in support of those affected and the search and rescue operations are still in full swing.
