Kylian Mbappé: Delighted to Rejoin France Squad for Nations League Quarter-Finals

France Squad

Kylian Mbappé, the esteemed captain of the French national football team, has expressed his enthusiasm and happiness upon rejoining his teammates ahead of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final clash against Croatia. This match marks Mbappé’s return to international duty after a six-month hiatus.

Eager to Reunite with the National Team

In a recent press conference held in Split, Croatia, Mbappé conveyed his joy about reuniting with the French squad. He stated, “I feel good, I feel happy to be playing football, I feel happy to be here.” The 26-year-old forward missed two matches in October due to injury and was rested for two additional games in November as he adapted to his new club, Real Madrid. Despite these absences, Mbappé emphasized the strong bond he maintains with his national teammates, mentioning that he keeps in regular contact with many and even spends holidays with some of them. He added, “The situation may have been unclear to people outside, but it’s always been clear internally.”

Reflecting on Personal and Professional Growth

During his time away from the national team, Mbappé faced challenges both on and off the field. Adjusting to life at Real Madrid presented its own set of hurdles, and he also found himself at the center of a legal investigation in Sweden. Swedish media reported in October that Mbappé was the subject of a rape investigation following a visit to Stockholm during a break in the Spanish La Liga season. At the time, Mbappé’s legal team dismissed those reports as false. In an interview that aired in December on the French TV station Canal Plus, Mbappé said he was “surprised” by the reports that he was the subject of a rape investigation and added he had not been contacted by Swedish authorities.

Leadership and Future Aspirations

As the captain of Les Bleus, Mbappé is not only focused on the upcoming Nations League matches but also has his sights set on the 2026 World Cup. He acknowledges the importance of these competitions in preparing the team for future challenges and is committed to leading by example. Reflecting on his journey, Mbappé admitted that a career is not linear and emphasized the need to refocus on what brings joy and motivation. He expressed a desire to improve continually and contribute positively to both his club and the national team.

Upcoming Fixtures

France is set to face Croatia in Split on Thursday for the first leg of the Nations League quarter-final, with the return fixture scheduled three days later at the Stade de France in Paris. These matches are crucial for France’s progression in the tournament and serve as an opportunity for Mbappé to showcase his leadership and skill on the international stage once again.

In summary, Kylian Mbappé’s return to the French national team is met with enthusiasm and optimism. His experiences over the past six months have contributed to his personal and professional growth, and he is now poised to lead France in their pursuit of Nations League glory.
