Klerksdorp Police Arrest Father and Son for Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Livestock

Klerksdorp Police Arrest

**Klerksdorp, North West** – In a recent bust, Klerksdorp Police in North West arrested a father and a son for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, possession of suspected stolen livestock (four sheep), and stock theft. The two suspects, aged 19 and 39, are expected to appear before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 27 December 2023.

The arrests took place at Extension 5, Alabama near Klerksdorp on Friday, 22 December 2023. According to Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani, the suspects were apprehended after the police received a tip-off regarding suspected stolen sheep. The sheep were found at the given address, and through tattoos, preliminary investigations positively linked the sheep with a recent case of stock theft in Hartbeesfontein.

Additionally, the police found a Nissan 1400 bakkie and a Toyota Conquest in the yard, which were allegedly stolen from two different dealerships in Klerksdorp earlier this month. The suspects were arrested after failing to account for the goods.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended the Klerksdorp Visible Policing, Vehicle Crime Investigation, and Stock Theft & Endangered Species Units for their outstanding work. He also expressed gratitude to the community for their active involvement in the fight against crime.
