By Thys Khiba – The North West security workers have accused Klerksdorp CSS security company of compromising their security at the workplace and delaying their monthly salaries.
Workers, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation, alleged security workers provides security response without safety equipment in some of the premises that the company is responsible for.
The workers say delayed payments are now starting to be a norm.
“We as the CSS Security Guards have had enough of this late payment thing, it has now became a norm for the CSS Security payroll master to pay our salaries late and half of our salaries not full.
“We urge the company to take us seriously we have needs, some of us pay school fees and transport not to mention our policies,”said anonymous.
In May 2023, workers received their salaries late, despite the promised that was made by the company to pay them on the 8thof every month.
The monthly payments date was again changed in June. It was indicated that workers will receive their payments on the 15th of every month.
“On this month of July, we waited from the 15th until we saw it fit to approach them at the company’s offices to lay our complain. Nothing seems to be getting alright instead things keep getting worse.
While the company claims that they offer armed response services, it is alleged that security guards are given torchlights to protect themselves at work.
“We guard unsafe premises without any useful equipment for protection. What could one do with just a torch when isattacked?
“We need to be provided with ‘donkey-pills‘ to protect us. We are exposed to armed criminals nowadays nothing is ever possible without protection.”
CSS security company was established in 1976 and has branches in the Free State and North West – Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom, Parys, Kroonstad, Bothaville, and Viljoenskroon.
Central News understands that security guards working for CSS security are paid R7000 monthly.
The company was also asked if it had delayed salaries for its security workers. The CSS security did not respond when asked to explain the reason for the delays and whether they give their workers safety equipment to protect themselves and clients while on duty.
