Johannesburg – A well known and loved medical doctor and radio host of Kaya FM, Dr. Sindi has passed away due to Covid-19 related complications.
According to the family of Dr. Sindisiwe van Zyl, she has passed in the early hours of Saturday, 10th April in Johannesburg hospital.
The van Zyl family humbly thanked everyone who stood together with them recently to help raise funds for Sindi’s hospital bill, in addition to the national outpour of prayer, love and support for her.
The campaign raised more than R1 million in donations. “It is however with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of our Wife, Mother, Sister and Daughter, Sindisiwe van Zyl (45).”
She was married to Marinus van Zyl with two beautiful children, namely Nandi and Manie. The van Zyl family humbly requested that the public should respect their need for privacy as they go through this difficult period of grieving, and ask that the public keep them in their prayers.
They have described Sindi as a great doctor, true friend and sister. She was a medical doctor who had a radio show called Sidebar with Sindi at Kaya FM. Sindi always offered support and great advice to educate those around her.
“Not only was she a beacon of love and light on her Kaya FM show ‘Sidebar with Sindi’ and all her social media platforms, but she genuinely loved and gave endlessly to all she knew with grace and kindness.”
Meanwhile, Kaya FM Radio station indicates that they are incredibly sad to have lost her. The station says that they will not forget the mark she left as a health care worker.
“It has been a great privilege to call her a sister and a colleague. We will not forget her openness, the long conversations in the hallways, and her laughter, which reverberated across our studios.”
Details of her memorial and funeral will be confirmed at a later stage.
