A hat-trick from Lebogang Manyama saw Kaizer Chiefs come from behind to beat Golden Arrows 3-2 in a DStv Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.
The away team started the better of the two sides with Arrows’ Knox Mutizwa trying his luck from the edge of the box in the 11th minute, but Bruce Bvuma was on hand to make a fine fingertip save.
Two minutes later Chiefs created their first scoring chance when Kearyn Baccus got onto the end of a cross, but his header shaved the wrong side of the post.
In the 21st minute Arrows took the lead when a goalkeeping error from Bvuma saw him spill the ball and Michael Gumede pounced on the loose ball to head home, 1-0.
Chiefs, though, quickly hit back when a pin-point cross from Willard Katsande was turned into the net by Lebogang Manyama from ten-yards out in the 32nd minute, 1-1.
The Amakhosi should have taken the lead in the 41st minute when Daniel Cardoso found himself in space inside the box, but he fired hopelessly over from close range.
The half ended 1-1.
Chiefs started the second half brightly with Samir Nurkovic getting on the end of a Leonardo Castro cross, but his header struck the woodwork in the 48th minute.
Just after the hour mark disaster struck for the Amakhosi when Erick Mathoho headed the ball into his own net when attempting to clear an Arrows free-kick into the box, 2-1.
Similar to the first half, Chiefs quickly hit back with Manyama finding his second goal in the 72nd minute after chipping the keeper from just inside the box, 2-2.
Seven minutes later Manyama found his third goal from close range and gave the Amakhosi the lead for the first time on the night when he got onto the end of a pin point pass from Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, 3-2.
Arrows threw players forward in the final ten minutes as they went in search of the equalizer, but Chiefs managed to hold on for what is only their seventh win of the season.
