Sabelo Radebe and Donay Jansen
By Sello Masilo
Johannesburg – September 20, 2024 – Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that two of their promising talents, Sabelo Radebe and Donay Jansen, will be heading out on loan for the 2024/25 season. The Soweto giants made the announcement just as the Premier Soccer League (PSL) transfer window drew to a close, with both players poised for exciting opportunities at their respective loan clubs.
Radebe Joins Richards Bay FC
Sabelo Radebe, affectionately known as “Bibo,” is a 24-year-old midfielder who has struggled for consistent minutes at Chiefs, despite showing flashes of brilliance. Radebe has been sent to Richards Bay FC in KwaZulu-Natal, a move designed to give him much-needed first-team experience. Richards Bay, known for their organized play, will benefit from Radebe’s tactical flexibility and creativity in the midfield, as they aim to strengthen their campaign in the PSL this season.
Although Radebe has been with Kaizer Chiefs for five seasons, he has only managed to make 17 appearances, with his best form coming during the 2021/22 season. He is eager to reignite his career and make a significant contribution to Richards Bay’s ambitions. Kaizer Chiefs’ Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., expressed confidence in Radebe’s loan move, stating, “We believe that this spell at Richards Bay will provide Sabelo with the opportunity to showcase his talent and return stronger” .
Jansen to Strengthen SuperSport United
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Donay Jansen will join SuperSport United in Tshwane. Jansen, who recently signed a contract extension with Chiefs until 2027, caught the eye of SuperSport’s coach Gavin Hunt, who sees the young wing-back as a valuable addition, especially following the injury of Zambian winger Gamphani Lungu. Jansen made his senior debut last season for Kaizer Chiefs, and although he has featured in only two games for the first team, he was a standout performer in the Diski Challenge.
SuperSport United has been actively looking to fill gaps in their squad due to injuries, and Jansen’s arrival will undoubtedly strengthen their defensive options. His pace and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively make him a key signing for Matsatsantsa this season .
