The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, has made it clear that President Cyril Ramaphosa will not have a peaceful State of the Nation Address (SONA) in 2024.

Malema stated that they will demand to know the whereabouts of their leaders and representatives, upon entering parliament. He emphasized that they were not simply employees, but were sent to parliament by voters to listen to the state of the nation on their behalf.

“It’s because these people are not employees, they were sent here by voters to listen to the state of the nation on their behalf, therefore we can’t proceed in the absence of others,” said Malema.

Malema made these comments at the Western Cape Ground Forces Forum at Shekainah Healing Ministries, Apostle Mohlala’s Church.

This statement comes after six EFF leaders and Members of Parliament were suspended from participating in parliamentary activities.

This group includes Julius Malema, Floyd Shivambu, Marshall Dlamini, Sinawo Tambo, Vuyani Pambo, and Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi. Their suspension stems from the SONA 2023 protest, during which they ignored the ruling of the Speaker of the National Assembly to leave the Chamber.

Malema and his colleagues prevented President Cyril Ramaphosa from commencing his address and expressed strong objections regarding the Phala Phala Farm Scandal.

Rather than leave the Chamber, the EFF members crossed the floor and jumped onto the stage at City Hall to protest President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address. As a result, the Speaker suspended proceedings and called on security services to remove them. The group was subsequently found guilty of being in contempt of Parliament.

Their suspension will encompass the entire month of February next year, effectively prohibiting them from attending the president’s next state of the nation address, slated for February 2024. The EFF MPs refused to participate in the hearings against them after the committee declined their request for a postponement.

Malema also openly protested the appointment of advocate Anton Katz as the initiator in the parliamentary hearing against them, saying that he will not be persecuted by a white man.

Despite the EFF members’ absence from parliament in the coming months, Malema declared that “what was supposed to happen will happen.” #malema #juliusmalema #ramaphosa #cyrilramaphosa #phalaphala #centralnewsza #eff #2024IsOur1994
