By Thys Khiba– World Cup-winning Springbok Elton Jantjies was charged with malicious damage to property and appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday afternoon.
Kempton Park magistrate’s court has postponed the case to 3 June for further investigation.
Springbok fly-half Jantjies indicated in court that mediation could be considered.
This follows his weekend arrest at OR Tambo International Airport for allegedly damaging property on an Emirates flight.
According to his agent James Adams, the incident has been unnecessarily heightened. Adams told media that Jantjies had been with his family in Turkey before his arrest.
Jantjies’s legal representative Nabeela Moola tried to stop the media from recording court proceedings, indicating that this could prejudice Jantjies by tarnishing his image and perhaps affect his job.
