Independent Candidate Sesing Ramotswabodi: 10-Point Manifesto for the Free State

Sesing Ramotswabodi

Sesing Ramotswabodi, the sole independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 Free State Provincial Legislature Election, has set forth a transformative vision for the future through a robust 10-point manifesto. Aiming to address the pressing issues of unemployment, failing infrastructure, and social inequality, this manifesto represents a dedicated commitment to build a stronger and more equitable Free State.

1. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs: A Revolution in Employment

The Free State, with its agricultural wealth, stands as South Africa’s breadbasket. Ramotswabodi plans to “partner with farmers (both large and small) to leverage our agricultural strength,” thus creating numerous jobs in processing, logistics, and export sectors. Additionally, he emphasises building “public-private partnerships” to foster investments in infrastructure, renewable energy, and knowledge-based industries.

2. Education for All: Aligning Skills with Economic Needs

Ramotswabodi stresses the importance of aligning education with the economy. Collaborating with industry leaders, the goal is to ensure graduates possess job-ready skills. By committing to “providing free, top-tier education at all levels,” the manifesto promises substantial investments in teacher training, educational resources, and infrastructure. A notable pledge is the “Historic School Debt Relief,” which aims to forgive all past school debts for families, enabling them to prioritise their children’s futures.

3. Supporting Small Businesses: The Economic Backbone

Recognising small businesses as the backbone of the economy, the manifesto aims to “clear the invoice backlog,” prioritising the settlement of R1.2 billion owed by the government, thus fostering financial stability. Through “streamlined bureaucracy,” regulations will be simplified, making it easier for small businesses to operate and generate employment.

4. Restoring Local Government: Building Trust and Efficiency

To rebuild trust in local municipalities, Ramotswabodi commits to “ending cadre deployment” by appointing qualified professionals based on merit. Promising “financial accountability,” the manifesto aims to implement stringent financial controls to eliminate unauthorised expenditures and ensure responsible public fund usage.

5. A Healthy Free State: Quality Healthcare for All

Healthcare being deemed a basic right, the manifesto outlines plans to “reform the system” by addressing supply chain issues, upskilling staff, and filling skill gaps. Efforts will be made to “reduce medical negligence” through better training and stricter protocols, thereby improving healthcare delivery and lowering government financial burdens.

6. Managing Immigration: Fair Policies for All

Acknowledging the significant contributions of immigrants to the economy, Ramotswabodi promises “fair and efficient immigration policies” that protect South African jobs while welcoming those who positively contribute to the province.

7. Helium: A Golden Opportunity

The recent discovery of helium in the Free State is seen as a golden opportunity. Ramotswabodi plans “sustainable development” for helium exploration, ensuring environmental responsibility and benefits for the Free State communities.

8. Food Security Council: Ensuring Stability and Export Opportunities

To ensure food security, the manifesto proposes establishing a “Free State Food Security Council.” This initiative will not only secure food for residents but also explore export opportunities, thus creating jobs and additional income sources.

9. Land Reform: Correcting Historical Injustices

Committed to land reform, Ramotswabodi’s manifesto focuses on empowering previously disadvantaged individuals. Profits from the land will be shared with those who work on it, addressing past injustices and promoting economic equity.

10. Decentralisation and Spatial Justice: Inclusive Development

Ramotswabodi aims to dismantle apartheid spatial planning by “decentralising economic activity.” This strategy ensures that industries and development spread across the province, providing all communities with access to jobs and growth opportunities.

Sesing Ramotswabodi’s unwavering commitment to a stronger, fairer Free State is clear. “Together, we can build a Free State that is strong, fair, and prosperous for all. Let’s get to work!” he declares.

Free Staters are urged to “Vote Sesing Ramotswabodi on the 29th May, 2024,” marking a crucial step towards real change and development.
