Randburg – International hitmaker Nkosinathi ‘Black Coffee’ Maphumulo has been accused of allegedly assaulting his estranged wife, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa at her 33rd birthday dinner.
According to Mlotshwa the alleged incident took place at their Sandton home.
On Monday, the Randburg Magistrate’s court heard an application for a protection order preventing Black Coffee from entering his former material home. The judgement on this the matter has been reserved as both parties will be issued with a summons.
On Tuesday Black Coffee took to the Twitter streets to accuse Mbali Enhle Mlotshwa of “misleading the public.” In one of his tweets he wrote “I personally grew up witnessing GBV (Gender Based Violence) in my own household and from a young age, I vowed never to allow that to happen again under any circumstances. I DID NOT assault Mbali. I didn’t it now I have never done it before.”
Though it is unclear if a case has open, it is alleged that Mbali Enhle Mlotshwa has reached out to the court for assistance with a domestic violence case, which she wished to keep quite for the protection of both herself and her children.
“It is my duty as a woman to not only fight for myself but for every single woman in South Africa,” said Mlotshwa. Ntethelelo Foundation founded by Thokozane Dabada said that they have previously supported victims of GBV and rape, therefore they are driven to support Mlotshwa too.
The case has really left South Africa divided with many coming out in support of Mbali Enhle Mlotshwa and others supporting Black Coffee.
Judgement for the protection order was reserved as both parties will be issued with a summons. The legal matter is expected to be back in court on April 28.
