By Thys Khiba – Free State 35-year-old man was arrested for possession of counterfeit cigarettes on Wednesday 29 March 2023 in Heilbron.
The boxes of counterfeit cigarettes, estimated to the value of R175 000.
This comes after Heilbron police officers allegedly followed up on intelligence-driven information from a concerned community member.

“Upon further investigation, the members managed to arrest the 35-year-old suspect while he was delivering the boxes of cigarettes.
“He was found in possession of several boxes in the bakkie he was driving,” said Sergeant Martin Xuma.
According to Xuma, further questioning of the suspect led to several more boxes being recovered at his residence.
The arrested suspect is with possession of counterfeit goods.
He is expected to appear before the Heilbron Magistrates Court on Friday, 31 March 2023.
