Hawks arrest two suspects for possession and dealing in drugs

Seven suspects have been arrested by the Hawks in connection with a crime ring responsible for prepaid electricity fraud.

Bloemfontein – The Hawks in Bloemfontein have arrested two more suspects between the age of 27 and 30 in connection with possession and dealing in drugs.

It is alleged that the two suspects with two other accused, namely, Tshepo Choane (33) and Deon Cape (38) who are already in police custody were selling drugs Mandrax tablets at the estimated street value of R21 900 on different occasions.

On Wednesday, 23 June, two suspects were arrested during a sting operation by the Bloemfontein Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation.

“The suspects were monitored over a period of time by the Hawks’ and Crime Intelligence team as they allegedly sold drugs to police on several occasions,” Hawks Spokesperson, Captain Christopher Singo said.

Meanwhile, on Friday 11 June 2021, Cape was arrested after he was found in possession of 305 Mandrax tablets inside his vehicle. “…estimated street value of R9 760 whilst Choane was arrested on Saturday, 12 June 2021 while he was delivering drugs intended for the police.”

During the arrest Choane was found with 243 Mandrax tablets, 2 packets crystal, 5 gram cat to the estimated street value of R7 700.

Cape and Choane will be reappearing to the Bloemfontein and Selosesha Magistrate’s Courts on Monday 28 June 2021.

Meanwhile, the two recently arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 25 June 2021.
