Gender Based Violence
Opinion by Steve Tshabalala
It is easy to spread lies on social media because the rules of social media are simple: tarnish, and it’s up to the victim to exonerate themselves. Free State has reached this level of desperation, and at least it keeps some people relevant and hides their intelligence nakedness away from public purview. A pathetic, nefarious agenda, malicious lies, misinformation and cocked story about Tlholo and Kamo is a testimony that Free State has reached the highest level of desperation in seeking a false contentment. The Stratcom and forces of reaction planted to tarnish and destroy our African National Congress are now activated. The outcome of the 2024 elections has given rise to the satanic hope that the ANC can be defeated, hence the unleashing of mules.
Kamo and Tlholo lived their love life like any normal couple in the Free State and the universe. Their only sin is that Tlholo is an employee of the ANC and reports to the Provincial Secretary. So, tarnishing Tlholo’s image is seen as essential to discrediting the provincial secretary and the moral standing of the ANC in South Africa, but more specifically in the Free State.
It was alleged on social media that Tlholo held Kamo hostage and also assaulted her. The WhatsApp messages purported to come from Kamo and her ‘wooer’ were circulated on social media and purported to be leaked by the concerned ‘wooer’ whom Kamo was ‘cheating’ Tlholo with.
Allegedly, Tlholo took Kamo to the ANC Provincial Office and interrogated her for the whole night while unleashing the most gruesome torture. According to the texts, the ANC Office was an ideal place to commit a crime because nobody would have heard Kamo screaming. The ‘Wooer’ also claimed to have direct contact and some control over the Premier. This is backed by his message purported to be sent to Kamo when Kamo purported to have apologised for putting the ‘wooer’ in the mess –
“It’s ohk, I’m coming… The premier will attend to this, we stand upright against GBVH. That man’s not fit to work for the ANC…Bbe, don’t type, send the pictures, I am sending them to the premier now”.
To cut the hogwash short, it is alleged that SAPS was indeed sent and stripped Kamo naked in searching for wounds or bruises, of which they did not find anything because it was just a fabricated story with no base but politically motivated, the ANC must be integral part of these shenanigans by hook or crook.
Firstly, that is why out of the zillion of Tlholo’s photos on social media, the one with the ANC emblem ischosen. Secondly, Tlholo could not have access to the ANC office throughout the night; besides, the cameras could have exposed him. Why will the Police just ignore this important evidence, but instead go and ransack Tlholo’s place when the purported crime did not even take place there?
I hope that the Police are not regressing and being used as tools to advance a particular political narrative, as it happened during the apartheid years.
Let me hasten to indicate, when the damning messages hit the social media space, I took my phone and call Tlholo and Kamo. I wanted to know what happened because I wouldn’t have just condemned and shot from the hip like many did. I have direct contact with Tlholo and Kamo, besides, these were the only people to clarify the allegations. I spoke to both of them, and they denied everything.
They informed me that they received calls from the ANC genuine leaders, including the Provincial Secretary and First Deputy Secretary General and have since assured them that everything was in order and they never even had any disagreements as a couple at least during that week.
The million-dollar question remains: Why are such spurious allegations made, and how is it going to benefit the Lucifers of the Free State?
Firstly, it was going to overshadow the visit of the Deputy President of the ANC and Republic Cde Paul Mashatile, I believe, to a certain extent it did.
Secondly, the wishes that the National Working Committee (NWC) must have disbanded or reconfigured the ANC Free State elected Provincial Executive Committee will somehow be kept alive and maybe find resonance because the Provincial Secretary’s office is implicated.
The modus operandi is now established, the comrades will be framed, people will be given money to tell lies, and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be employed to push a nefarious agenda.
Though the politics of these manufactured allegations are concerning, the use of GBVF is even more concerning as ittrivialises and makes a mockery of the important fight that the country is engaged in defeating this pandemic. It is well known that Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is the most common GBV, and using it as a bait for settling political scores is both inhuman and politically myopic.
The President of South Africa has described GBVF as a second pandemic, and the NPA is currently making serious progress with a conviction rate on IPV standing at 92.2%. It is for this reason that I appeal to all Free Staters to stand and be counted.GBVF is serious and must never be used to settle any scores. The charlatans who use GBVF and police for their agenda must be exposed and face criminal charges. Social media should also not be used to persecute, but rather to provide authentic information to law enforcement agencies for justice to prevail.
I am Steve Tshabalala and write in my capacity as a Free Stater.
