Some passengers claim that the delays experienced today on the Gautrain rapid rail link are a strategy of the North-South line operator to frustrate daily commuters. It was pointed out that the delays which were initially estimated at 50 minutes ended up lasting much longer than that some sources even say several hours.

Negative reaction among passengers has been increased by recent fare hikes. This is because, for those who use it daily, there have been arguments over the increased fare that was recently introduced on the train.

Comments from angry passengers flooded Gautrain’s social media platforms conveying displeasure from lateness as well as lack of communication clarity from the company. In response, Gautrain apologized and asked for individuals affected to get in touch, but lack of any information concerning technical issues resulting to delays only served to make the passengers more disillusioned. “We are pleased to advise that the train services is now operating according to schedule. we once again apologise for the inconvenience caused.” Gautrain Said
