Gauteng government partners with MERSETA to train 6 000 young people

Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi will host a media briefing to announce a partnership between the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) and Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA) to train 6 000 young people as solar technicians on Thursday, 4 May 2023.

The commitment was made by the Premier, in his inaugural State of the Province Address delivered on 21 February 2023 where he said: “We will ensure that our young people are trained, skilled and equipped in the energy space.

Premier Lesufi will be joined by the merSETA CEO, Ms Disa Mande, and representatives from the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPIA), a member-led organization involved in the solar PV industry.

The briefing and signing ceremony that is scheduled as follows:
