Popular Entertainer Peter Mashata Gunned Down in Soshanguve

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi is set to pay a visit to the grieving family of the well-regarded entertainer Peter “Mashata” Mabuse in Soshanguve, Pretoria today. The visit, as detailed in a provincial government alert, will find Lesufi at the Soshanguve Police Station at midday.

Mashata who was fatally shot in an early morning attack on Sunday. Reports suggest that Mabuse and another individual were targeted by unidentified assailants, resulting in Mabuse’s untimely death and hospitalisation of the accompanying occupant.

In the wake of this horrific incident, Colonel Noxolo Kweza, speaking on behalf of the Gauteng police, announced, “Tshwane Police have opened murder and attempted murder dockets following a shooting incident involving two men aged 46 and 45-years-old during the early hours of today.” The motive behind the heinous crime remains a mystery, with law enforcement urging anyone with information to step forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.

Echoing the sentiments of a community in disbelief, Mabuse’s football team, Mamelodi Sundowns, extended their heartfelt condolences, a sombre reminder of the vibrant life cut tragically short. “The Chairman and the Motsepe Family, the Board of Directors, Technical Team, Players, Management, Staff, Supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns FC and the entire Yellow Nation express their deepest condolences to the family and friends as we mourn the loss of the multi talented Peter “Mashata” Mabuse who served as an announcer at the Mamelodi Sundowns games,” the statement read.

Continuing, the club shared, “We pray that the Almighty comforts and strengthens the Mabuse family, his fans, friends, and colleagues in the entertainment industry. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and everyone that was touched by his talent, entertainment, and laughter.”
