In a distressing incident at OR Tambo International Airport, a French national allegedly threw her dog from a third-floor balcony in the early hours of Friday morning. The dog sustained severe injuries and was subsequently euthanised.
According to police reports, the woman is currently receiving care at a health facility. The motive behind her actions remains unclear, and authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Animal welfare organisations have expressed outrage over the event, calling for stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent such occurrences. The South African Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) stated, “This tragic incident underscores the need for increased awareness and stringent measures to protect animals from harm.”
OR Tambo International Airport, named after the renowned anti-apartheid activist Oliver Tambo, is South Africa’s busiest airport, handling millions of passengers annually. The airport has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
