Hangda Steel, which recycles scrap metal to produce steel, has invested R300 Million and has already provided employment to 150 locals. As the company expands, it is expected to create jobs for approximately 5000 more individuals.

Premier Dukwana, during the State of the Province Address, identified Thaba Nchu as an area with significant potential for job creation, and the launch of Hangda serves as evidence of his commitment to reducing high unemployment rates.

Premier Dukwana stressed that increased investments from more companies would greatly alleviate the unemployment crisis. He noted that unscrupulous officials hinder the government’s efforts to combat unemployment by extorting honest business people operating in the province.

The Premier expressed his gratitude to the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Zhongdong Tang, and the management of Hangda for providing employment opportunities to the residents of the Free State province. While urging employees to remain honest and diligent in their work, Premier Dukwana also called on the management to treat workers with respect, emphasizing their role in the company’s growth.

“We must recognize the workers as individuals who contribute to the company’s progress. Treat them with dignity. Similarly, we urge the workers to work hard and avoid actions that may jeopardize their employment.”

Premier Dukwana received support during the event from MEC for Official Destea, Thabo Meeko; Education MEC, Makalo Mohale; and Finance MEC, Gadija Abrahams Brown.
