The Free State Police are currently on the hunt for information following the discovery of three women who were found murdered in Caleb Motshabi, Bloemfontein. One suspect has been arrested and is set to appear in court for murder, but the police are still seeking information on the other two cases.
According to Police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, the first incident took place on Sunday, 24 December 2023, when Kopanong Police received a report of a body wrapped in cellophane inside a shack in Caled Motshabi.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police found the body of a 34-year-old female, Sinah Bantjies, wrapped in cellophane and covered in mud. After an investigation, a 43-year-old suspect was identified, traced, and subsequently arrested in Botshabelo by Kopanong Detectives. He is set to appear in the Bloemfontein magistrate court for murder.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, 20 December 2023, Kopanong police received a call about two bodies in a shack at T13 in Caleb Motshabi. Upon investigation, they discovered the bodies of two females, aged 91 and 66, on a bed. A neighbor had made the discovery after seeing the 66-year-old earlier in the yard.
Preliminary postmortem results revealed that the 91-year-old, Sarah Sentlholo, died of poisoning, while her 66-year-old daughter, Rebecca Moyetsane, was strangled to death. Police have opened two cases of murder and have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
The Free State Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in the investigation of these two cases of murder to come forward.
