Just days after the start of the new school year, the Gift Poli Foundation has donated school shoes and uniform to impoverished children at Utopia Primary school in Bethlehem, in Dihlabeng Local Municipality.
Speaking at the chosen farm school, foundation leader Gift Poli said they aimed to bring back dignity to some of the children whose parents could not afford to buy school shoes.
Poli indicated that the foundation and in partnership with the GP Lifestyle have started a roll out campaign of ensuring that 1 000 pupils in the Free State province are provided with full school uniform for the year 2024.
“Part of the program is adopt a school campaign where identified schools will be assisted with basic needs. We will be fixing toilets and painting the school. We will also assist with other basic things.
“A clarion call is made to all to donate atleast a pair of school shoes in order to reach the target of 1000 kids before the end of the year,” said Poli.
Parent, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed gratitude to the foundation for the great work that they do.
“We plead with God to bless them so that they can help many learners in Free State.
“I can’t afford to buy everything at once because I’m unemployed. These shoes mean a lot to me. My son will be like any other learner now.”
