Lampard praises Everton fans after crucial Chelsea win

By Thys Khiba – Chelsea football manager Frank Lampard suggested Chelsea were the better side for an hour against Real Madrid during the UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge stadium in London city, England.

This comes after Chelsea exited the Championship League.

Real Madrid qualified for the semi-finals after scoring 2 (0-4 agg.) goals against the Blues.

“We played really well for 60 minutes.

“I picked a team that was the most form team individually, and the fittest team in terms of what this game was going to ask of is, and they showed they could compete with Real Madrid,” said Lampard.

Lamps indicated that after Madrid scored a goal to make it 3-0 on aggregate, he had to make some changes to go and chase the tie.

Lampard hopes Chelsea players can now build on the standards they set and learn from what their opponents did to win this Champions League tie.

Having said that, at this level when you create some really good chances as we did, then you simply have to take them,” Lampard said.

He believes that his players had big energy and organisation that caused a lot of problems for La Casa Blanca.

Former Chelsea footballer continued to say that the club is going to be back.

“It will take work and a bit of process, and the fans appreciated the performance today.

We have to latch on to that and get results and performances until the end of season, and then go again next year.”

Madrid football manager Carlo Ancelotti said his team makes a difference when there is a collective defensive commitment.

Ancelotti indicated that reaching a semi-final is a success because it gives a chance to dream of winning another Champions League.

“We are delighted to play in another semi-final and we will keep striving to reach the final.

“Reaching a semi-final is always a success because it allows you to dream of winning another Champions League and playing another final.

Ancelotti agreed with Lampard by suggesting that Chelsea gave them a difficult match and did well in the first half.

“Chelsea did very well in the first half and caused us a few problems, but we put a very well-rounded second half , raised our game and moved the ball around better and had more dynamism,” said Ancelotti.
