Four Arrested in Vrede for Drug Dealing and Possession of Stolen Property

In a compelling Crime Intelligence operation carried out in Vrede, Free State, four individuals have been arrested for their involvement in drug dealing and possession of suspected stolen property.

The successful operation was a result of collaborative efforts between various law enforcement agencies, marking a significant win in the fight against illicit activities.

On Wednesday, 11 October 2023, local police, in conjunction with the Bethlehem K9 Unit, launched an intelligence-driven operation in Thembalihle, Vrede. Acting on a tip provided by the Phuthaditjhaba Crime Intelligence Unit, the authorities swiftly apprehended individuals suspected of drug dealing and related offenses.

The team meticulously searched a known shack in the area, leading to the discovery of twelve packets of dagga (marijuana), one and a half mandrax tablets, ten packets of crystal meth, and a significant amount of cash believed to be profits from drug sales.

Consequently, an adult African male was arrested and is set to appear before the Vrede Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 13 October 2023, to face charges related to drug dealing.

Later that day, the same dedicated team apprehended three adult males on charges of drug dealing and possession of suspected stolen property.

During the operation, officers seized three packets of crystal meth, one mandrax tablet, a welding machine, and two bicycles.

Cash was also confiscated, further substantiating the suspicion that it was obtained through the illicit drug trade.

The suspects, all in their twenties and thirties, will also face charges and appear before the Vrede Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 13 October 2023.
