The Jacob Zuma Foundation has officially announced that former President Jacob Zuma has successfully returned to South Africa following his trip to Russia to seek medical assistance last month.
Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi dismissed claims that Zuma left the country secretly, stating that while the trip was private, it was not a secret. Zuma and his team traveled on a commercial flight, according to Manyi.

The Foundation expressed its satisfaction with Zuma’s recent return and confirmed that his check-up and observations in the Russian Federation went well. Manyi conveyed Zuma’s gratitude to the progressive South African citizens and organizations who sent him well wishes and prayers during his time abroad.
In addition to his medical reasons for traveling, Zuma’s return was also prompted by a private prosecution matter scheduled to be heard in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday, August 4th, 2023.
The Foundation emphasized that it is compulsory for the private prosecutor to be present whenever the accused persons appear, as required by the law or by a judge’s order.
