Fezile Dabi District Municipality Boosts Service Delivery with New Vehicle Fleet
The Fezile Dabi District Municipality has added three new bakkies to its fleet, a move aimed at strengthening operations and improving service delivery across the district. The fleet includes two Toyota double cabs and one Isuzu extended cab, all branded with the municipality’s logo and social media details.
In a statement, the municipality explained that the decision to acquire the new vehicles was taken by Council following concerns over the cost of maintaining older vehicles. “Council made the decision to invest in modern and reliable vehicles, as several of our older vehicles had gone beyond their lifespan and were costly to maintain. The new vehicles have been strategically allocated to various municipal units, ensuring maximum efficiency in day-to-day operations. One of the vehicles has been dedicated to the Office of the Speaker, to further support its important public role. This is another step forward in ensuring efficient service delivery and building a stronger, more responsive municipality for the people of Fezile Dabi District.”
Municipal Manager, Sipho Thomas, welcomed the new additions, highlighting their importance in day-to-day operations. “These new vehicles will not only reduce downtime caused by constant repairs on our ageing fleet but will also ensure that our teams are able to reach communities faster and provide the services that residents depend on. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to modernisation, efficiency and accountability,” the Municipal Manager said.

He further noted that the procurement was part of the municipality’s broader strategy to strengthen public trust through visible improvements in service delivery. “As a municipality, we are committed to ensuring that every resource is used wisely and transparently. These vehicles represent more than just transportation; they symbolise progress and a renewed dedication to serving the people of Fezile Dabi District effectively,” he added.
The vehicles have already been allocated to various departments, with the aim of enhancing responsiveness and efficiency. By replacing outdated vehicles that were no longer reliable, the municipality believes this investment will directly improve service delivery and strengthen its ability to meet the needs of residents across the district.
