Enemies of Transformation and Black Excellence

OPINION | Enemies of Transformation and Black Excellence :
The continued onslaught on Black Successes including closure of bank accounts, Smear Campaigns and Character Assassination

It goes without saying that Poverty is our biggest enemy in this country which goes hand in hand with Unemployment especially Youth Unemployment which is 60% in some areas as well as Inequality.

These three evils can only be challenged head on through economic development in Mzansi. But the poor cannot only be receivers of benefits when we have 16 million people receiving state assistance., our people need to be active members of the economic life in this country by having useful employment which gives them dignity as well as was anticipated by Madiba.

At the CODESA conference RDP and BEE were all accepted as principles in our constitution, however when the first democratically elected government started implementing it and their visionary policies are now showing the fruits of many years of policy implementation there are reactionary monopoly capital forces who wants to put a damper on things.

The Afrikaner became politically powerful only when the became economically powerful and were able via the Broederbond to get their hands on the levers of state power.

This is currently the situation in our country as BEE and those black businessmen who have benefitted from it are using BEE to render assistance to previously disadvantaged black communities in order to promote sustainable development at grassroots level.

Black businessmen inline with the vision of Madiba are all without any doubt committed to economic empowerment of blacks who have suffered the most nearly 50 years under Apartheid and Colonialism and Occupation before that.

Black corporates have given new meaning to the concept of Social Corporate Responsibility and has taken enthusiastically to this idea aligning it with the vision once again of Tata Madiba and have enriched the lives of black communities tremendously through this form of outreach to empower and uplift black communities.

When I say black I refer to all those who suffered under Apartheid. We must not forget that white women too were restricted to many rights under Apartheid.

Madiba was the first to realise that social problems in black communities should be regarded by black companies as related to their corporate social responsibilities as well as they are best placed to make a difference far quicker than the government who were regulated by many cumbersome rules of engagement.

Fortunately for us most if not all black business leaders have adopted this idea from Madiba and has made many inroads in fighting poverty and unemployment and uplifting whole communities through their philanthropy.

One of he main sectors of black social responsibility generosity was the education sector and some black foundations have even built whole schools, others have paid for extra teachers and others have built laboratories etc.

We have thus a clearly defined programme of action to make a real dent in black poverty and inequality. This programme is highly successful and is making a difference in the lives of black people .

This programme is driven by individual black business leaders who accepted their responsibility to spread the wealth of this country to all who live in it but the priority is to benefit those who have suffered for so long under Apartheid.

Because this programme has been so successful in the past as well as currently it has drawn the attention of reactionary forces. The blacks are the majority in this country but has had no significant political clout as the real power was always international monopoly capital.

Blacks can only free themselves when they have economic power such as the Afrikaner acquired after the acquired political power, but they could only lift the yoke of international monopoly capital from their necks when they acquired economic power via SANLAM , SANTAM Federale Volksbeleggings etc.

The reactionary forces were quick to the response and has applied a well tried and tested strategy to undermine black economic success and that is via the smear campaign and the character assassination.

When certain factions in the National Party wanted to get rid of Jaap Marais they started a smear campaign by spreading rumours in the media and this is exactly the same tactics used to day.

Many black businessmen of the highest integrity who have made so much impact to eradicate black poverty has become the victims of a vicious and malicious smear campaign.

Various media houses with the social media presences has been coopted to undermine black business leaders who dare to empower black communities by funding various upliftment projects, because the interest of black business leaders in this country is NOT to get tax rebates which they are entitled to as well as publicity but to genuinely uplift blacks and take them out of poverty.

Black business men has not used projects to uplift poor communities as marketing exercises and to get free Public Relations mileage in the media but to genuinely uplift the lives of poor blacks in the townships where many still stay in shacks.
