Parys Areas Electricity Outage Resolved

The Ngwathe Local Municipality has announced that the recent electricity outage facing Parys Areas has been resolved. According to municipality spokesperson Steve Naale, the emergency switch off of electricity was necessary to replace a damaged electricity breaker at the main distribution station, which was completed today after the breaker was damaged yesterday.

The outage, caused by a lightning strike at the substation, led to the unfortunate demise of the breaker that distributed power to Parys and Tumahole. The municipal technical team has urged residents to take precautions during Eskom load shedding, reminding them to switch off appliances to avoid damages.

Naale expressed gratitude to residents and the business community for their patience during the implementation of the emergency switch off. He also thanked local media houses for their assistance in reporting on service delivery.

The municipality has reminded the community about scheduled Eskom loadshedding, which will be implemented tonight between 22h00 and 00h30 as per the Eskom schedule. The municipality has also urged residents to switch off appliances during loadshedding and unplanned electricity outages to avoid damages.

In addition, the municipality is responding to current outages in specific areas, including block/houses numbers 828+ in the Schonkenville and industrial site. For emergency services, residents can contact their respective councillors or call 082 909 3464 or 067 424 2372.
