City of Ekurhuleni

The City of Ekurhuleni is taking proactive measures to resolve ongoing water supply challenges in the Tsakane/Geluksdal and Etwatwa/Daveyton areas, where low storage levels are causing disruptions in supply and pressure.

Zweli Dlamini, the city spokesperson, highlighted that in order to protect the system from cavitation, pumps have been temporarily taken offline until water levels stabilize. Furthermore, the KwaThema reservoir is currently empty, and its outlets will remain closed overnight to replenish storage levels.

Dlamini emphasized the close coordination between Ekurhuleni City and Rand Water, noting that they are closely following Rand Water’s efforts to improve the RW Mapleton system. The city is eagerly awaiting further updates from Rand Water to ensure an equitable water supply for all residents.

He also assured the impacted communities that alternative water sources are being provided while the issue is being addressed. Dlamini urged the community to remain calm and assured them that diligent efforts are being made to fully restore consistent water supply to all affected areas.
